On Friday, August 15, we celebrate the solemn feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Pope Pius XII wrote this when he solemnly defined this doctrine of faith, “Finally, the Immaculate Virgin, preserved free from the stain of original sin, when the course of her earthy life was finished, was taken up body and soul into heavenly glory, and exalted by the Lord as Queen over all things, so that she might be the more fully conformed to her Son, the Lord of lords and conqueror of sin and death.” Yes it is our sure belief that Mary, Jesus’ Mother and his most faithful disciple, is the first Christian to participate in her Son’s Resurrection. Mary is the Queen of Heaven and she has gone where we hope to go.
Since the feast of the Assumption is a holy day of obligation, Masses will be on Thursday, August 14 at 6:30 PM at St. Anthony, and on Friday, August 15, at 8:00 AM at St. Anthony and at 7:00 PM at Our Lady of the Hills.
