Next Saturday evening and Sunday morning, the weekend following the February 3rd  Feast Day of St. Blaise, a 4th century bishop and martyr from Armenia, we will have the blessing of throats after the Masses at St. Anthony and Our Lady of the Hills. St. Blaise healed a boy who was choking on a fish bone, and afterward this throat blessing developed in the Church seeking his intercession.
Touching the blessed candles to the throats of those who seek the blessing, the priest prays:

Through the intercession of Saint Blaise,

bishop and martyr,

may God deliver you from every disease

of the throat and from every other illness:

In the name of the Father, and of the Son,

and of the Holy Spirit.
